Prohibited Items & Restricted Shipments

For your business, I’d make this page quite straightforward. Do not say that every item listed below is absolutely prohibited under all circumstances, because some materials can be transported legally under specific hazmat rules, packaging, documentation, carrier approval, etc.

FMCSA notes that hazardous-material regulations are contained in 49 CFR Parts 100–180.

To protect our customers, carriers, employees, and transportation partners, certain items cannot be accepted through US Parcel Link, while others require advance approval and special handling.

Customers must accurately disclose the contents of every shipment.

1. Prohibited Shipments

Unless specifically authorized in writing, we do not accept shipments containing:

  • Illegal drugs or controlled substances
  • Explosives
  • Fireworks
  • Undeclared hazardous materials
  • Biological or infectious materials
  • Radioactive materials
  • Illegal weapons
  • Stolen property
  • Counterfeit goods
  • Human remains
  • Illegal or regulated wildlife
  • Other materials prohibited by applicable federal, state, or local law

2. Restricted Items

Certain items may be accepted only after advance review and approval. These may include:

  • Hazardous materials
  • Flammable liquids
  • Batteries
  • Lithium batteries
  • Fuel-containing equipment
  • Engines or equipment containing residual fuel
  • Chemicals
  • Aerosols
  • Paints and solvents
  • Compressed gases
  • Oversized freight
  • Extremely heavy freight
  • Temperature-sensitive materials
  • High-value goods
  • Other regulated or special-handling shipments

Customers must contact US Parcel Link before booking any shipment that may fall into a restricted category.

3. Automotive Parts

Automotive parts may be accepted subject to proper preparation and carrier requirements. Examples include:

  • Engines
  • Transmissions
  • Transfer cases
  • Differentials
  • Axles
  • Body panels
  • Automotive components
  • Wheels and tires
  • Other vehicle parts

Engines, transmissions, and other components containing oil, fuel, coolant, refrigerant, or other fluids may require draining and preparation before transportation.

4. Batteries

Batteries may be subject to special transportation requirements depending on type, size, condition, packaging, and destination.

Customers must disclose the presence and type of battery before booking.

5. Hazardous Materials

Hazardous materials must be declared before transportation is arranged. The customer is responsible for providing accurate information and required documentation.

We reserve the right to refuse any hazardous material that cannot be safely and legally transported through the selected carrier or service.

6. Undeclared or Misdeclared Freight

If a customer fails to disclose prohibited, restricted, hazardous, oversized, overweight, or otherwise special freight:

  • The shipment may be refused.
  • The shipment may be removed from transportation.
  • Additional charges may apply.
  • The shipment may be returned or placed in storage.
  • Transportation may be cancelled.
  • The customer may be responsible for resulting costs.

7. Carrier Restrictions

Individual carriers may have additional restrictions beyond this policy. A shipment accepted by US Parcel Link is not automatically guaranteed to be accepted by every carrier.

Carrier-specific rules may apply based on origin, destination, freight type, dimensions, weight, packaging, and service level.

8. Customer Responsibility

The shipper is responsible for accurately describing the shipment and disclosing any material that may be regulated, restricted, hazardous, oversized, or otherwise require special handling.

When required, the customer must provide appropriate documentation, packaging, labeling, and declarations.

9. Right to Refuse

US Parcel Link reserves the right to inspect, refuse, suspend, or cancel a shipment that we reasonably believe may violate applicable law, carrier requirements, safety standards, or this policy.

Additional transportation, storage, return, disposal, or other charges may apply where permitted by the applicable agreement and law.
